Many New Mexicans identify as “Spanish” and have family trees that started in Spain. Alot of us were taught that we are Spaniard. By now of course we are mixed with Spanish/Native/mexican but for many New Mexicans our families have been here for generations and speak some of the first Spanish dialect.
