5 days ago · Alright, first post, bear with me. I walked Hidden Falls to the Ford Dam yesterday, and there’s about ~1000 ft of open water from the dam to where the river narrows and the ice begins. The middle of the open water is max ~14 ft deep, with decent drop-off on either shoreline.

Minnesota/Wisconsin B order Waters of the Mississippi River The Minnesota and Wisconsin DNRs are jointly reviewing fishing regulations on Pools 3-9 of the Mississippi River border waters from Hastings, MN / Prescott, WI downstream to the Iowa border. Bag and size limits on the border waters have been largely unchanged since the 1940s and 1950s.

I can’t stress enough that the wing dams I have been fishing are now a mere foot or so below the water… If you are not familiar with the buoy system on the river you need to be if you’re planning to spend a day on the river..

Jun 22, 2015 · There is nothing like watching a young adult pull in a 20 pound River Monster unless it’s a young adult pulling in her first River Monster at 47 pounds! Saturday night my two guests were “Sam” and her dad Mike Schmaltz. We spent a good deal of time talking about the river and it’s fishing while waiting for the first nibble.

Dec 26, 2006 · The Mississippi River offers alot of backwaters with shallower water and finding the areas with no current provides an angler with a nice place for safer ice fishing. The ice is thicker in these areas with us fishing on 6-8 inches of ice. The best action came from areas we found with cleaner water.
