The latest installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog series earned the strongest reviews of the franchise so far and outran its predecessors at the box office. The threequel stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles,

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has officially overtaken both of its predecessors at the global box office to become the highest grossing film in the trilogy.

The fourth film in the Paramount Pictures franchise has grossed a series-best $422 million in theaters and generated more than $180 million in home entertainment rentals and purchases.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has also earned over $200 million at the international box office. The overseas cume stands at $203.5 million

As it's early January, we are still largely in holdover mode. But that shouldn't discount the performance of those movies that released at the end of last year and are still doing solid business. Among them are Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King and Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
