LeBron James is long gone, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are once again looking like an NBA championship contender. The Cavs moved to 10-0 on the young season after blasting the Golden State Warriors on Friday night in a showdown of former rivals who have reinvented themselves to become elite once again.

Cleveland became the first team since Golden State in 2015-16 to win 13 straight to start a season. That Warriors team holds the record for most wins to begin a season at 24 straight. Cleveland joins a prestigious group of only six NBA teams since 2000-01 to open with nine consecutive wins. But while this early success is significant on its own, it also hints at something potentially bigger — a season that could set the Cavs apart from other teams with similar hot starts.
