Detective C. McEntire was investigating the “Grinch Crime Spree,” a series of burglaries in December, when he ran into 38-year-old Michael McCloud at a restaurant and struck up a conversation.

Plano police say Michael McCloud was boisterous and belligerent when he walked into one of his favorite restaurants and started talking to a stranger about needing a gun silencer to take care of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

A Plano man pleaded guilty to a murder-for-hire charge March 3 after an investigation that began with a series of vehicle burglaries in December 2024, Plano Police officials said. Michael McCloud, 38, entered a guilty plea in federal court to one count of solicitation of murder, according to a press release.
