Louisiana relies heavily on Medicaid benefits going to people who lack the means to cover a doctor’s visit on their own.

Trump is backing all the Republican state lawmakers who voted for Gov. Greg Abbott’s priority bill on school vouchers and who are seeking reelection.

"The legislation that passed does make it so some people won't pay taxes on their benefits," says Marc Goldwein, senior vice president at the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
