With winter weather expected to reach the Wilmington Tuesday and continue into Wednesday, local schools and governments have announced schedule changes. Here's a look at what's been announced as of Wednesday afternoon.

In its morning winter storm warning, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said the Wilmington area could pile on 3 to 4 inches of snowfall. However, the National Weather Service in Raleigh predicts 4 to 6 inches of snow in the Wilmington area as of 12:30 p.m.

Prior to the recent flurries, the National Weather Service last recorded snowfall in Wilmington on Jan. 29, 2022 — reporting a total half inch, according to the Wilmington N.C. Snowfall Database. Also, on Jan. 10, a system brought sleet to the area before turning into rain.
