The crash at Main and Stroudwater streets occurred at about 6 p.m. when the car attempted to cross the intersection and failed to yield to traffic on Main Street, police said.

Dawood and another passenger, 35-year-old Bassam Majeed of Westbrook, were both taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The crash closed River Road for about two hours.
