For the first time since December 2024, the Federal Reserve has lowered the federal-funds rate.

After a year of sitting on the sidelines, the Federal Reserve finally cut short-term interest rates by a quarter-point.

"I do think that people are expecting a big impact from this," said Nicole Stewart, a real estate agent with Redfin in Boise, Idaho, referring to the Fed's rate cut this week.
