Zack Short singled home Cam Smith from second base with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning to send the Astros to a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over the Rangers on Saturday night at Daikin Park, snapping a season-long four-game losing streak.
Infielder Zack Short was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land to replace Guillorme on the active roster. Guillorme, 30, has played in 12 games as a utility infielder for Houston, going 3-for-20 and playing at second and third base.
Short made his debut with the Astros on July 2 and drew his first start Saturday while hitting ninth. He began the scoring for Houston with a two-RBI double in the third inning. Even with Jeremy Pena (rib) sidelined, Short isn't likely to see consistent playing time moving forward.
