Thunderstorms swept across the Des Moines metro on Friday with flash flood warnings, tornado watches at the Iowa Speedway. See the highest rainfall totals.

After severe weather and heavy rain on Thursday, more storms are headed for Iowa on Friday afternoon prompting a tornado watch and flood watch.

Chad Hahn, warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service, also confirmed a tornado did not touch down in Newton or Jasper County. He said there was a strong rotating wall cloud on the storm, which along with the rotation identified on radar prompted the tornado warning.
