Marcelo Mayer, the Red Sox's No. 2-ranked prospect and No. 8 overall per MLB Pipeline, is expected to be added to Boston's roster for the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Orioles, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Over time, Saturday could be remembered as the day the Red Sox called up star prospect Marcelo Mayer from the minors. But the Sox still had business to take of as Mayer made his way from Worcester to Boston for the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Orioles.

After trading 1-2-3 ninth innings, the Orioles and Red Sox went to the 10th. The Orioles, once again, failed to do anything consequential. So the Red Sox took it into their own hands, Rafael Devers hitting an RBI single to walk it off.

The Orioles nearly held Boston scoreless in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader thanks to the fearless effort of Jorge Mateo.

The Red Sox and Orioles had planned on playing a split doubleheader on Friday, but Mother Nature had other ideas. After Boston routed Baltimore, 19-5, in Game 1, the scheduled second game was postponed due to an extended period of rain in the Fenway Park area.
