The New York Liberty have raised capital at rate that sets a record valuation for a professional women's sports team.
According to Ben Pickman of The Athletic, the Liberty are valued at $450 million after raising capital from a group of investors, which "is believed to be a record across professional women’s sports and is more than double that of the last publicly known capital raise made by a WNBA franchise."
The Liberty departed Indiana with two more players suffering injuries. First, Nyara Sabally was a pregame scratch due to a right knee injury. Then Leonie Fiebich sat out the final nine minutes off the first half after injuring her left shin following a collision with Indiana’s Lexie Hull.
The New York Liberty, reigning WNBA champions, continue to win on and off the court. According to The Athletic, the franchise has completed a significant capital raise, boosting its valuation to a record-setting $450 million—the highest ever for a professional women’s sports team.
